Western Union® Sending Money

When a person wants to send money, go to the nearest Western Union® agency. At the agency the sender completes a simple form, stating the recipient's name/destination country/send amount and pays a transfer fee. The agent then contacts Western Union where an operator processes the information. Funds are then available for collection by the recipient within minutes at the nearest agency. The person sending the money is given a Money Transfer Control Number (Western Union MTCN).

Western Union® Receiving Money

Funds may be collected at any Western Union® agency. The recipient completes a simple form stating who sent money/their own name and address/approximate amount sent and the Money Transfer Control Number (Western Union MTCN). Identification must be shown (i.e. valid passport or driving license); however, in a situation where the receiver's identification has been lost or stolen the sender may include a test question to which only the recipient has the answer. Funds are paid in local currency.
